We have the winners!

At last, the winners of the first annual Philadelphia Independent Film Awards have been named! Winners were announced Sunday, May 22 at during our red-carpet awards ceremony held at International House in Philadelphia.

More than 50 films in more than 10 categories were in contention to be named as a Philadelphia Independent Film Award winner.

Also honored was rapper-actor-producer and Philly native Will Smith, who received our Trailblazer Award. The Trailblazer Award is bestowed upon a filmmaker or individual in the film industry who has not only achieved a high level of success but has also set a standard for others to follow.

Congratulations Leonard Heard Community Service Award Winner!

Nakia Dillard

Actor-writer-director Nakia Dillard won the Leonard Heard Community Service Award. 

The award is bestowed upon filmmaker or an individual in the film industry who not only exemplifies excellent work but also takes the time to give back to their community.

Dillard is the founder of Aikan Performing Arts which provides job opportunities for youth. Aikan also introduces young people as well as adults to entrepreneurship.
