The  indie film - and Phillies - fans came out in force for the 2nd FREE Film Collective screening held Friday, Dec. 7 at South Street Cinema in Philadelphia.

The free showcase of independent films started off with the documentary "Michael Volpe: The Free Agent Fan - A True Story".

Directed by Volpe's son, Andrew, the documentary film short featured Michael's quirky 90s era quest to find a new baseball team to follow after his favorite player was traded.

His search eventually landed on the Philadelphia Phillies, grabbing national headlines along the way.

Phillies Publicity Director John Brazer was in the audience  to share in the recollections. It was Brazer's letter that

persuaded Michael to become a Phillies fan.

After the film was shown, Michael shared humorous inside baseball stories (view video, top left) he became privy to as a result of his search.

Later in the evening director Tyrone Blassingame fielded questions about the production of his harrowing short revenge drama "Payback" (view video, left, second from top). Lead actress Janan Ashton discussed how she was ready to give up acting before being cast in "Payback."
