Philadelphia, PA (March 6, 2018) - In a change from previous years, the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards organizers are inviting the public into the awards selection process. Members of the public are invited to pick the winners of the 2018 IFAP Impact Award. The award goes to one male and one female recipient who has made significant contributions to the tri-state area independent and mainstream film, TV, theatrical, and media communities.

The award is named for the Independent Film Association of Philadelphia (IFAP), the non-profit 501(c)3 organization that produces the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards. Last year’s recipient was actor/comedian Kevin Hart who was honored for his charitable contributions to schools and community organizations within the Philadelphia area. There was no female recipient.

This year’s nominees include:

IFAP Impact Award, Male
  • Kaliek Hayes - Kaliek Hayes is co-founder of Childhoodslost Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2015 which assists traumatized youth in creating original stage plays in order to give voice to their pain.
